Yunnan Microwave Technology Industrialization Breakthrough

Transferred 25 related technologies to foreign countries, added profits of 242 million yuan. As a new green metallurgical method, microwave metallurgy has been difficult to expand in industrial applications. The achievement of a scientific and technological project completed by Kunming University of Science and Technology is to promote the industry of microwave metallurgy. Applications provide the possibility. The project team successfully developed a series of new microwave metallurgy reactors, and established the microwave high-temperature production line of large-scale, continuous and automated microwave metallurgy for the first time at home and abroad.

Microwave metallurgy is also called green metallurgy, and it is one of the effective ways to promote energy saving, emission reduction and consumption reduction in the metallurgical industry. For example, the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of microwave-efficient metallurgical materials is only 50 to 55 degrees, compared to the comprehensive energy consumption of traditional steam drying. It is 200 to 220 degrees. However, due to the severe lag in microwave reaction mechanism research, it is difficult to expand the application of microwave in metallurgy, and the progress of industrialization is very slow.

In order to solve this problem, the research team led by Professor Peng Jinhui of Kunming University of Science and Technology carried out the principle research of the technologies of drying, calcining, leaching, reduction, and metallurgical material preparation in a systematic way with the combination of production, study and research. After 22 years of research and innovation, this successful microwave metallurgical theoretical research and new technology won the 2010 Yunnan Province Natural Science Award and the 2010 National Technology Invention Award.

At present, this technology has been successfully promoted to industries such as metallurgy, energy, chemical industry, and **, and has successively transferred 25 high-level microwave reactors, production lines and related technologies to the National Institute of Carbon Materials, Spain, etc., accumulatively increasing the output value. 976 million yuan and profit of 242 million yuan.
