In front of the ATM cash machine, it knocked people by reason, knocked out the bank card in the hand of the drawer, and quickly dropped the card package during the process of picking up the card. Recently, the Jilin youth Jia Jun (pseudonym) obtained the bank card and password for cash withdrawal in Qitaihe City, our province, and was arrested by the police. The Provincial Public Security Department reminds the general public to be alert to four ATM crimes.

In May of this year, after stepping on the spot, Jia Jun, who worked in a hotel in Qitaihe City, came to the branch of Caicheng Construction Bank, a pedestrian street in the city, and for this reason knocked down the bank card in the hands of a lady who was preparing to withdraw money before the ATM machine. I gave out my bank card to this lady, peeked at the lady and entered the password, and left quickly. Afterwards, he took away 7000 yuan from the card twice. On June 18, Jia Jun's old tricks were repeated, and the bank security staff sent him to the Taoshan Public Security Branch of Qitaihe City, where the local procuratorate approved his arrest.

Four types of ATM crimes

The Provincial Public Security Department analyzed these cases and found four criminal methods.

First, the criminals distracted the attention of the beneficiary by way of conversation, etc., dropped the bank card, and used the camera device installed on the ATM machine or peeked at the beneficiary to enter the password to steal the password.

Second, the criminals blocked the ATM machine's cash dispenser opening, making the machine unable to dispense money. They used the name of the bank or card issuer to paste information such as "Operating methods when the ATM machine fails" on the ATM machine or on the wall to deceive the money transferee to transfer money. .

Third, criminals put the card swallowing device into the slot of the ATM machine to create the illusion that the bank card was swallowed, or install the magnetic stripe information reading device into the card slot, and install a code thief on the keyboard of the ATM machine. , The criminals took out the "swallowed" bank card withdrawal or forged card withdrawal based on the copied bank card magnetic stripe information.

Fourth, criminals install a magnetic stripe reading device on the card reader of the self-service bank door, and post a prompt such as "Please confirm the password after swiping the card" on the door to mislead customers and make fake card withdrawals.

Seven measures to "protect" your bank card

Relevant persons from the Economic Investigation Department of the Provincial Public Security Department reminded the public to strictly guard against various frauds committed by ATMs. Before using the ATM to withdraw money, pay attention to observe the surrounding environment. If you find someone within 1 meter, you can ask them to stay away temporarily; when you enter the password, you should cover your password button with your hand. If you find a suspicious device, you should immediately contact the bank or call the police; "The so-called" bank duty phone "on the"; when you encounter card swallowing or other failures, don't leave easily; don't throw away the withdrawal slips spit out from the ATM machine; replace the initial password of the newly applied bank card in time, do not set the password Too simple, it is best to change the password from time to time; the "access control system" installed by the criminals is slightly larger than the original access control system, and there is no need to enter any password through the access control system.
