Melting surface temperature should not exceed 775°C
Practice has proved that when aluminum and aluminum alloys are heated to 775°C after melting, the oxidation rate and the formation rate of slag are not fast, but after exceeding this temperature, it will increase sharply with the increase of temperature. For example, studies have shown that at 775 °C melt surface oxidation rate is only 13μg (cm2.h); and 800 °C up to 24/μgcm2.h), an increase of 84.6%; at 780 °C for l4. 5/(cm2.h), only up 11.5%. Therefore, the melt surface temperature during smelting and holding is preferably below 780°C. The aluminum plant should also reduce its temperature as soon as possible after injecting primary aluminum into the holding furnace.
