ABB Group established Xiamen ABB Switchgear Co., Ltd., the first joint venture company in China, in Xiamen Torch Hi-tech Zone in September 1992. Currently, ABB has set up 8 joint ventures and wholly-owned companies and two R&D and technology centers in Xiamen. Rooted in the fertile soil of the torch, ABB has a very rapid development momentum, and its industrial driving effect is significant. Xiamen ABB Switchgear Co., Ltd. is currently the world's largest medium voltage switch manufacturing and R&D center. Xiamen ABB Low Voltage Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. is currently the world's largest low voltage switch manufacturing and R&D center. This year, ABB Group will build an ABB industrial center in the Torch (Xiang'an) Industrial Park and gradually relocate ABB to Xiamen ABB Xiamen Industrial Center. As the largest investment project of ABB Group, the construction of ABB Xiamen Industrial Center will be an important new chapter in the development of ABB Group and will help the Group achieve a major strategic shift. According to the plan, ABB Xiamen Industrial Center project is expected to start in June of this year, the entire project will be constructed in two phases, the first phase will be completed by the end of 2015, and the first phase will be put into production in 2016; the second phase will be completed and put into operation in 2019.
